Motorola have been at the forefront of mobile phone development since the market began, however the company really came into their own in the mid 1990′s after being the first manufacturer to introduce flip phones. After pioneering flip phone technology and enjoying a significant boom, the company’s rivals eventually caught them up and forced Motorola mobile phones to reconsider their designs.

By 2005, Motorola mobile phones were once again at the top of the market thanks to models such as the RAZR series, which featured a sleek flip phone design, are light weight and had leading technology at the time such as 3.5G capability and 2 megapixel cameras. After smartphones became the norm in the mobile phone market, Motorola proceeded to cement their place as one of the major manufacturers by developing a number of successful handsets based on Google’s leading Android operating system.

In recent years, Motorola mobile phones have continued to show the same innovation which saw them be the first manufacturer to popularise the flip phone. The best example of this is the innovative Motorola Atrix, a phone which contains the processing power to double as a laptop and media centre via the use of accessories. The idea behind the phone is that it will offer people a single device for their digital needs, as the handset, along with performing well as a phone, can be docked into a special laptop shell and run as a web book along with also being able to be placed in a Media Hub and connected to televisions and stereos.

In an effort to boost sluggish sales of its 3DS console, Nintendo are cutting the price to £180 from the figure of around £230, in anticipation many retailers have already implemented the price reduction in an effort to increase their sales.
In a statement made this morning, the video games giant said “Nintendo of Europe will be reducing the European trade price of Nintendo 3DS to retailers by around a third from 12th August 2011, as part of a global trade price reduction initiative. The ultimate price to consumers is, of course, determined by retailers, however we look forward to consumers benefiting from much lower retail prices very soon.”

For people who are already buying the product, Nintendo will be offering an “Ambassador Programme” to consumers who purchased the 3DS before 12 August. The programme will enable these Nintendo 3DS owners to download 10 NES games and 10 Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games for free.

A lot can be written when reviewing this “desirable” ‘mobile ‘phone but to put it into a nutshell, the HTC Desire has to be one of the most impressive phones of all time. Despite being significantly cheaper than the iPhone, it can match or beat everything that the iPhone does. An Android Smartphone with a fabulously responsive touch screen, the Desire packs in a huge choice of apps, brilliant web browsing, one of the biggest and best screens ever, a good camera, a music player and GPS too.

The Desire is a logical upgrade of the HTC Hero. The Hero was a brilliant phone that received rave reviews from many reviewers; but some felt that it just wasn’t quite there. The Desire fills in all the blanks that were missing in the Hero, making it truly the Smartphone to beat. The Desire is a mid-range phone too, available free on reasonably-priced contracts, and it’s very user-friendly, this is going to be an absolute monster phone.

Is there anything that the HTC Desire is missing, or anything that could be improved? No not really. This is probably the nearest that could be described as being the nearest ever seen to being the perfect phone. No doubt there are one or two minor improvements that could be made, but then it would have to cost more. As mid-range Smartphone’s go, this is as good as it gets!

With Pay as You Go prices starting at £99 and contracts from £10 per month, the Samsung Monte is billed as a high-end phone at an affordable price, but what do you get for your money? The Samsung Monte is quad-band so can be used all over the world, great for when you’re on holiday. It also features a 3 inch touchscreen display, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, a microSD card slot and GPS navigation.

The Monte’s user interface (TouchWiz 2.0) is customisable, and although it’s not as good as the Android interface it’s still pretty decent. A fully functional multimedia player is also on board, as well as a 3.5mm headphone socket and music and video files can be stored on microSD cards up to 16GB.

A 3.1 megapixel camera is mounted on the back and is capable of geo-tagging and smile detection, and can record QVGA video at 15fps. As with most of the latest mobile phones on the market today, the Samsung Monte has social networking integration and can also provide you with live updates.

The Samsung Monte is a great phone for those that want a touchscreen and internet access but don’t want to pay a fortune for their phone.

Sony has been synonymous with great portable music players since the introduction of the Walkman back in 1979 and the new Sony Walkman b153 is no exception. Although Apple’s iPod has taken much of the market share for portable mp3 players, there is still a market for ultra small mp3 players without the trills of the iPod.

The Sony Walkman B153 has a 4GB internal hard drive and direct USB input that makes it easy to drag and drop any of your favourite songs from any computer and boasts a large jog wheel for easy control. It also features a range of equalisation settings as well as bass boost, but probably its best feature is the quick charge option, which means that a 3 minutes charge can give up to 90 minutes of playback time.

The Sony Walkman B153 will be available in June and will come in black, red, pink or blue. There is no word on price yet.

Apple has announced that it has sold over 300,000 iPads in the US in one day! Figures include the delivery of pre-ordered units and sales at Apples retail stores up to midnight on Saturday. Apple also announced that the iPads new users had downloaded over 1 million applications from the App Store and 250,000 ebooks from its iBookstore during the release day.

Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs said: “It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world — it’s going to be a game changer,” adding that, “iPad users, on average, downloaded more than three apps and close to one book within hours of unpacking their new iPad.”

According to Apple’s UK store there is no set release date for the UK, but does say ‘Coming late April’, so we’ll have to wait another couple of weeks to get our hands on this clever bit of kit.

The company state that this mobile phone is optimised for social networking whilst retaining the functions of a Smartphone, all in a handy candy bar styled device.

The Nokia C5 features a 2.2 inch TFT display, 3G connectivity and a 3.2 megapixel camera. Aimed at the mid-range market, the C5 does not include Wi-Fi connectivity, but does feature a full blown multimedia player and 3.5mm headphone socket, a document viewer and GPS with Ovi Maps 3.0.

The C5 also boasts a microSD card slot for storing data and a secondary video call camera mounted on the front as well as easy access to social media sites such as Facebook, Flickr and YouTube.

The device itself is quite small, measuring 112 x 56 x 12.3 and weighs just 89.3 grams, which makes a change for the normally bulky Smartphone’s we are used to.

Whether this new series of Nokia mobile phones will take the market but storm is anyone’s guess, but the Nokia C5 will be released sometime between April and June this year and will retail for around £120.
