Microsoft sued over faulty Xbox 360
After we posted the problems that were cropping up with the Xbox 360 after the USA launch on the 24th November, we have seen the launch in the UK on the 2nd December. Not surprisingly some of our readers at Techlounge have also reported similar problems with their Xbox 360..
In Chicago a lawsuit has been filed by Robert Byers against Microsoft due to the problems he has faced with his Xbox 360. He claims that Microsoft released the Xbox 360 knowing that there were problems with it and they only did it to beat their rivals Sony and Nintendo with their new generation of gaming console. He is seeking litigation related expenses, unspecified damages and the replacement and recall of the Xbox 360’s. Who knows what the outcome will be, but he is brave to take on Microsoft.
The Xbox 360 has become the fastest selling home entertainment games console, with over 75,000 being sold in the UK over the launch weekend, and it is estimated that a staggering 400,000 have already been sold in the USA.

Yeah so next time I ever get anything that doesn’t work I’m going to sue the company that made it…

Crazy yanks! They always take things too far.
Tricky for Microsoft though as if they compensate this guy… how many more potential cases will they have?

Microsoft have released this games console with a wide range of technical problems i have PS2 no problems, Nintendo Gamecube no problems and i take the xbox 360 out of the box and boy do we have problems. They have released a defective product knowingly and good luck to anyone who sues those money grabbing PRICKS.

I like the fact that you(the consumer) are complaining that someone is doing something about the premature release of the Xbox360; saying that they have no rights to sue to company and go on about taking things to far. He is not just doing this for himself, but for every Xbox360 consumer, fan, and lover. This is also good considering that if my xbox360 were to over heat or malfunction 2 days after my warranty expires, I can always relate to this case.

True, microsoft released this faulty console. But we were the mugs who (knowingly) bought it. I dont think any litigation will be taken seriously. Pity, cos the XBOX360 is a great bit of gear…………….when it works. Oh……. and I dont think the problem is overheating. I think this is just all hearsay.. I think there are numerous hardware issues with it, least of all the overheating problem.

Microsoft dont care about the customer. They are only in it for the money, you can say the same about sony because it’s true but at least they care enough to wait and continue testing and spending more money on their product to make sure it will work when it is taken out of the box. The only reason Microsoft started the Xbox franchise was because sony’s playstation and nintendo were hurting their PC gaming market, so they lauched something to make up for the lost profits. It is normal for a newly designed product (especially electronic) to have faults but from what I hear Microsoft are saying “well youv’e given us your money, we dont care anymore” instead o fixing the problem. Glad I got a PS3, its as cool as it runs.
