Sony NW-E505 Mp3 player

sony nwe505 Since the RIAA has gone round with a big stick hitting everyone that downloaded pirated or leaked versions of the latest album e.g. Madonna’s been a recent example, people are now downloading less. So they have turned to ripping there own CD’s which if using Windows Media Player as default you’ll be getting WMA’s . Which for this player causes a slight problem; it doesn’t support them which is a shame.
Another gripe is the Sonic Stage software…. we’ll stop here it’s so bad. See the comments we’ve been getting on the NWA3000.
But the battery life on this little beast is just amazing like the oled display. If it had been brought out at the same time as the Ipod Shuffle it could of really harmed the sales of the Shuffle. Prices on the NW-E505 start from around £69.99.

Really surprised that Sony has produced such a dud in an Mp3 player… not to be able to play WAV’s … hopeless.

Can I use it as a memorystick as well to save pics? Or do I have to use Sonys own program, SonicStage? I want to use Explorer in Windows XP as a normal flashmemory…

You can use it as a standard “drag and drop” flash drive; it just won’t play songs that way. Also, it comes with a utility that allows mp3 import without SS or Connect. However, I think its usb1.1, so file transfer is SLOW.

Ingare- I don’t know if it can, but they didn’t say it can’t play WAV, they said it can’t play WMA: they’re totally different formats.

Why the hell would anybody wanna play wav on it anyway? If you still use wav, you’re stuck in the past. Only 10 stupidly uncompressed wav songs would fit on it anyway (ok, maybe 13)
