Sony Playstation 3 PS3
With the release of the new Xbox360 imminent, can you wait the extra 6 months for the PS3? Well they say 6 months, but it will more than likely be 7/8 months as we know how bad Sony are at releasing things on time. It’s like choosing an Mp3 player, if you want a Ipod you’ll buy an Ipod, if you want a PS3 you’ll either wait or get a Jap/US version because it’s rumoured that they are going to be a region free console.
The only way to compare the PS3 and the Xbox360 visually is to wait until both are available, but on paper the Xbox 360 looks a lot better.
Here are a few things to weigh up:
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 CPU architecture has three times the general purpose processing power of the Cell, which is used in Sony’s PS3.
The Xbox 360’s GPU design is more flexible and it has loads more processing power than the PS3 GPU (The Cell).
The memory system bandwidth in the PS3 is 48 GB/s where as the 360 has 278.4 GB/s.
So Sony have claimed to have the best console, but again seem to have under developed their console. If you are a Playstation fan and already have the Playstation 2 it may be worth hanging on, as the Playstation 3 is compatible with all your old Playstation games.

Plus Xbox 360 has online play via Microsoft’s amazing Live! service, an area in which Sony, with it’s Playstation, is seriously lacking.

playstation does have an online option, but on the ps2 you have to buy the network adaptor but its free to use there on.

It’s got to be the Xbox 360 for me… I think Playstation are not managing to keep up anymore with the high end gamers. Just got to try and get hold of one now. I wasn’t sensible enough to pre-order one months ago

I pre-ordered 4 so hopfully I’ll get at least one! Laz if you want one of my spare ones look on ebay after 2nd December or offer me a competitive price

I’ve been watching the prices on ebay over the last few days … they are really going for high prices. Heard that the 1sy batch into the UK has all gone to pre-orders so there will be big demand for them in Dec

Yeah I’ve been watching the prices on Ebay as well - it’s looking good for getting a decent price if I do get more than one! It’s a shame about the low quantity, as many people who will want one for Christmas won’t have pre-ordered months ago.

Hi Tech Lounge - yeah I did get it on the 2nd, sorry about the long wait for my reply but I only just stopped playing it! I sold a core one on Ebay and made about £120 which was pretty good. A friend bought my other premium one off me though so I didn’t make a profit on that one
Jaz - da memry is proper wicked you gets lyk 12GB free space i rekonz. So enuff for all da game savz and music and stuffs.
