A major competitor to the much vaunted Apple iPad has arrived on the scene through major player Samsung in what it is believed is to be the first of a number from the company and at first sight the Samsung Galaxy Tab looks to have more to it than the iPad. As well as all the things that Apple offer, the Samsung can make calls, plus video calls, as well as all the video, music and book content that you get on an iPad and it has a camera too. Samsung says its research shows people want this device to be useable on the move and they need to be able to communicate with it.
A big plus for the new Galaxy is that it is being distributed by Vodafone who has said that it will distribute the device in European markets including the UK in October. Spokesman Patrick Chomet said that the firm is “pleased to be introducing” the Galaxy Tab, and “adding tablets as part of our device range is a natural next step that gives customers an alternative way to enjoy great content and internet services,” The tablet can connect via 3G networks, as well as wi-fi and Bluetooth, but with more competitors likely in the near future, pricing will become the crucial issue.
