Apple has announced that it has sold over 300,000 iPads in the US in one day! Figures include the delivery of pre-ordered units and sales at Apples retail stores up to midnight on Saturday. Apple also announced that the iPads new users had downloaded over 1 million applications from the App Store and 250,000 ebooks from its iBookstore during the release day.

Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs said: “It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world — it’s going to be a game changer,” adding that, “iPad users, on average, downloaded more than three apps and close to one book within hours of unpacking their new iPad.”

According to Apple’s UK store there is no set release date for the UK, but does say ‘Coming late April’, so we’ll have to wait another couple of weeks to get our hands on this clever bit of kit.
