Skinput aims to turn your body into user interface
Skinput is a development project that aims for the user to touch their body to operate devices such as mobile phone and mp3 players. Still in its development stages, Skinput is a collaboration between Carnegie Mellon University and Microsoft and works by using an armband that incorporates sensors which measure the pressure, speed and force of a person’s touch.
The Skinput armband also features a pico-projector that creates an image of a scrolling menu on the users arm or hand which can be navigated by tapping the skin. Check out the video below.
This sort of technology really opens the door to what we will be using in the future to control our mobile devices and could also be utilized by other sectors as well.
