Sony’s new Compact Vault 5GB
Ok so it’s about the size of a compact flash card which to us here is large for a memory card. They’re so big you could throw them at a window and they’d smash straight through. But when your new Sony Compact Vault holds 5 GB worth of data, not just 256MB so you don’t really mind that the card is a bit on the large side, as it holds up to 20x more data than the smaller cards.
We’re guessing that it won’t be long before the likes of Lexar are doing their own slightly cheaper version of the card like they did with the Sony Memory Stick. The transfer rate on this card is good too at 96.7Mbps compared to an SD card which transfers at 20Mbps.
We think the Sony Compact Vault card will be a bigger hit when the Sony digital cameras that can use this card come down in price as well as the card itself.
