VK Mobile VK2000

VK mobile VK2000 There is a new mobile phone craze sweeping the world as people are choosing mobile phones that are slim and light, but still packed with features. This started with the Motorola Razr that has become very popular in the sleek black or silver designs. A rival is about to come onto the market that could change people’s perceptions of the Razr. VK Mobile, formally Viable Korea, started in the rechargeable battery market and it was only 4 years ago that they joined the mobile phone market. VK Mobiles have designed and developed the VK2000 which is the lightest and slimmest mobile phone around.

The VK2000 is 77grams lighter than the Razr at just 48 grams, which is astonishing, and is 8.8mm thick compared to the bulky Razr at 20mm. As a comparison the Ipod Nano is 6.9mm thick. We can only see one problem that could happen is when it is in your back pocket of your jeans and you sit down on it, will it snap or will it be ok?
These credit card sized phones are starting to infiltrate the market, with this phone due to be released in Korea in December. The VK2000 will be retailed out at around $100 so are very affordable. The only standard mobile phone gadget that this phone is missing is a camera, but has all of the usual GPRS, WAP, SMS and games options. With the VK2000 it is perfect for making calls and texting, for those people who are happy to use their mobiles for just that.

There is also a Samsung P300 on it’s way out that is the same size but with more features. Review coming soon.

perfect for people who don’t need all the additional feature of an SPV and an affordable price

Yep, we tend to have forgotton why we have a mobile phone, and even people who have all singing all dancing phones still only use it for calling people and the odd text.

Great looking phone! I have a couple of questions:
    - can VK2000 sync to PC?
    - can it play MP3 files?
    - where can I buy it?
    Thanks,
    Phil.

Phil > I think all phones are made to be connected to a PC some way, but what do you want to sync with this one? It hasn’t got a camera, Bluetooth, Infrared, MP3 and memory card support. Of course it ain’t a smartphone. But hey that’s what you get for $100 – a phone, that can make and receive phone calls and sms/ems messages, use GPRS and play simple games – but I seriously doubt it will do more.

i have no back pocket on my jeans and the only thing i ever do with my phone is text so i think its that PERFECT phone for me!!!!

Does it have calender functions? Like Birthday reminder, appointments (with alarm function). If yes, how many entries?
How many messages can it save? Can you send and receive extra-long messages?

How many telephone entries? More than one number per entry? Additional information per entry? (address, email etc.) ?

I’ve just bought one of these off Ebay.
It is indeed a nice-looking tiny phone. And most of the time it works well.
BUT if you speak on it for any length of time (say more than 5 minutes) the speaker area of the phone, next to your ear, gets very hot. And I mean quite hot. It’s far too hot to be comfortable and you’ll find yourself swapping ears to try to get some relief from the heat.
When I used it I couldn’t wait for the caller to get off the phone so I could cool my ears down – feels like they are being irradiated.
If you buy this phone – use it for short calls, use the handsfree earpiece or send text messages.
    No Bluetooth
    No PC Sync
    No Mp3
Just a phone. Looks cool but runs hot.
