HTC and Vodafone announce new Android phone

HTC today announced its second Google Android-powered mobile phone, called the HTC Magic. It also announced that Vodafone will have the exclusive rights for the device in Europe, Vodafone’s first Android-powered smartphone.

Full specifications for the HTC Magic are still to be released, but we do know that the device is similarly styled to the HTC G1, but does not have a sliding QWERTY keyboard, instead opting for a full touch screen interface.

Other features include a 3.2 inch touch display, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity and a 3.2 megapixel camera. The HTC Magic will also feature a trackball and separate navigation buttons for easy access to applications and email. It will also feature Google’s popular applications like Google Mail and Google Maps as well as access to Android Market, which allows users to download applications and games quickly and easily.

HTC say that the Magic will hit stores in the spring and will initially be available in the UK, Germany, Spain and France exclusively for Vodafone customers, with other territories to follow soon after.
