T-Mobile has said that it will be changing the tariff plans for its T-Mobile Google Android G1 phone. The G1 was only available for the Flext40 and Combi 35 contracts, which would cost at least £31.50 a month, but will now be available for £20 a month for a small price.
The T-Mobile G1 is a direct competitor for the hugely successful iPhone 3G, and RIM’s new Blackberry Storm, with T-Mobile’s tariff cut bound to be very popular this Christmas.
The T-Mobile G1 will now be available for free on the Flext 30 tariff, which is an 18 month contract costing £30 a month; for this you will get unlimited internet access and up to 700 minutes of calls or 1400 text messages. The G1 will also be available on T-Mobile’s Combi 15 contract, which is 18 months, but gives you 100 minutes and 200 texts all for £20; the phone will cost you £100 if you choose this option, but does come with 8GB of memory.
There are no plans to bring out a pay and go option for the G1 Smartphone, but the success of O2’s pay as you go iPhone 3G may persuade T-Mobile Phones to follow suit.
