Pentax Optio WPi 6.0 Megapixels

Pentax Optio 6 mega pixels is really nothing special for a digital camera nowadays, but it is when your camera is waterproof to 1.5 metres for under £200. So 1.5 metres isn’t a lot but you won’t go much deeper when snorkelling and we guess its probably going to go a little bit deeper as a security measure but don’t hold us to that one!

So firstly we left it in our sink here at Techlounge, and we used warm water because you don’t go snorkelling at Blackpool, you would be using this on holiday. It came out of the sink and still worked. As you can see this camera doesn’t have a normal extendable lens for zoom, which is to stop sand and sea debris getting into the internals of the camera. That’s a down point but you normally have another digital camera for that or your ordinary camera.

This is your keep in your pocket snap camera, as it takes under 1 second from power up to your first photo. This camera is handy and we would definitely recommend the official silicon skin for under £25 to help protect your sleek WPI from the nocks and scrapes it might receive in everyday life.

Really not sure that this will be a big seller… but then again once you’ve had a waterproof camera you probably would wonder how you ever lived without it!

That’s the same for any gadget. What did we do before they invented the mobile phone, laptop or Mp3 player?

Nice features, many will probably never be needed. The problem is that the manufacturer skimped on not having a direct optical viewfinder resulting in a camera that is difficult, if not impossible, to use in low light or direct sunlight.
Great manufacturing savings with lack of optical mechanics for a viewfinder, great disability for the camera.
