Creative Zen X-Fi details leaked

New information has been leaked about Creative’s new music player to rival the iPod touch and Microsoft Zune. The new device is called the Zen X-Fi and is a Wi-Fi enabled music player with media sharing capabilities.

The picture below shows the Zen X-Fi’s stylish black and chrome looks, and the nine button directional pad. Along with its Wi-Fi capabilities the X-Fi also boasts an SD card slot and built in speaker.

According to the specs, the nine button directional pad can be used for instant messaging on Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live and will be set out like a mobile phone keypad. The Zen X-Fi will include an FM radio and voice recorder and rumours suggest that premium headphones will be incorporated in the box as standard.

The device is named after Creative’s X-Fi audio technology, which restores the data lost by compressing music files and creates concert-like audio effects that give you the feeling of a live performance.

The Zen X-Fi supports MP3, WMA, ACC and WAV audio files and WMV, MPEG-4, DivX 4/5 and Xvid video formats. No word yet on screen size or hard drive capacity but it is presumed that it will be similar to the existing Zen’s with a 2.5 inch screen and 8, 16 and 32GB hard drive capacity. Again there is no word on price, but expect to hear more in the coming weeks.
