The MPMan F10 was the first solid state MP3 player available in the North American marketplace. It was developed by SaeHan Information Systems in Seoul, Korea and was then imported into the USA by Eiger Labs and retailed at around $199.95. So looking at prices today that’s going to get you a 4GB Nano.
The MPMan F10 had 32MB of flash memory which would store 30min to several hours of music. This wasn’t expandable by the home user although you could send it back to Eiger Labs with a cheque for around $80 and they would upgrade it to 64MB.
The F10 came with rechargeable NiMH batteries which would last for around 16 hours of play back. Sized at 91mm x 70mm wide and 16.5mm.
Released later was the F20 which used a single AA battery and used smart media cards for storage which the user could expand to 64MB.
