Why is it that we always have to wait for new technology to arrive in Europe when our gaming counterparts across the pond get everything first. We refer to the Xbox 360 Elite that was released in the US stores at the end of April. In Europe we will have to wait until at least late Summer 07 / Autumn to be able to get our hands on one. So for those of us who are waiting what is the Xbox 360 Elite?

The 360 Elite is the premier console that adds to the Xbox 360 family with the Core and Premium systems still available. The Elite is sleek with a black finish which makes is stand out from the rest of the Xbox’s and fall in line with the Playstation 3. You will also get a detachable 120GB hard drive, a HDMI port, a hi-def cable, a wireless controller as well as a Xbox Live headset. The hard drive is the main upgrade to this console giving you plenty of space to store all of the movies, tv shows, music, videos and games that are available from the Live marketplace. If you do have a old Xbox 360 and want to copy your stored data from your old hard drive to the new one you will be able to get a migration cable. The beauty of the Xbox 360 Elite is that all of these options will also be available to buy seperately too.

The cost of the Xbox 360 Elite is the most expensive an Xbox has been, but you are getting a whole lot more for your money. It is selling in the USA for $479, so we expect that when it hits the UK shelves we would be looking at paying in the region of £350. Is this another console that will have a delayed launch maybe and a rush at Christmas time for the latest Xbox console. We will just have to wait and see.
