Sony Ericsson W880i

Well where do we start. We got this phone in due to being attracted by the sheer slimness of it. And yes it is as slim as it is in the pictures which is about 5 x 2p coins (9.4mm).
The first major gripes that we have with the phone is the 2 mega pixel camera. Don’t get us wrong the quality isn’t bad but think how much better it would if it had been a 3.2 mega pixel camera. Our second let down was the size of the screen being only 1.9”. It aids the high battery life but come on guys 2” wouldn’t of made the phone that much bigger.
You get a 1GB Memory Stick Micro™ M2™ in the box which is nice to see as the phones onboard memory only hits 16MB which when you take away the phone software only works out to be about 13MB.
This phones is lush in styling with its brushed aluminium effect and the rubberised back stops it from slipping about places and out of your palm. Its manages to drop quite well… we have dropped ours from hip height with only a minor scratch on the metal face. But since its black out comes the permenant marker pen to touch it up.
The battery life states around 6 hours of talk time 20 hours of music playback and 17 days of standby time, we have found that with Bluetooth on all the time, and sending the odd text here and there and same with calls for maybe 5-10 minutes everyday, you will be looking at around 4 day life cycle of the battery. Ours was charged 3 days ago and is now on about 28% but its left on all the time so it we think its done well. The Walkman play is good but slightly complicated to use at first but you soon get the hang off operating it .
The buttons are ok to text type slowly with, but they’re very easy to either miss it or for the button to slip down the back of your fingernail which is slightly irritating to say the least, its easier to text with the top of your fingernail or the middle of your thumb. All in all though a very good looking and functional mobile.
