Stealth Table Top - The 21st Century Coffee Table
Ordinary coffee table? We don’t think so! This is a stealth tabletop. Manufactured by Design Concepts it has a 19 inch screen built into it and can be used for all sorts of tasks. The main feature of this is that you can spec it up to be compatible with any mulitmedia feature. For example you could ask for MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) retro gaming, a TV tuner or even full Media Center capability.
The design of the tabletop is classy and it is minimalistic. The shiny black finish is excellent (so please use a coaster if your planning on placing your coffee mug on it). Sound is provided via the tabletops built in speakers and Design Concepts promises this means no extra boxes which would ruin the design. The tabletops start from £2900. A fairly large investment for a coffee table but one that’s probably worth it if your house has to be totally high tech.

This looks so cool. £2900 sounds quite a lot of money but when you think you’re getting pretty much any old school arcade game you want and a table it’s a bargain!

It certainly looks the business, but I can’t think of many occasions that I would want to play games or watch Tv while sitting at a table… I’d rather lounge on the sofa and get comfy. If it was a dinner table maybe you could have music playing from it or a funky type of screen saver playing, but apart from that this is reserved for flash footballer types I expect who have more money than sense!
