Microsoft announces Xbox One Price Drop in UK
Microsoft has announced that it is dropping the price of its Xbox One console in the UK to £399 on Friday. The console will now include one of the most anticipated next gen games of the year Titanfall in the package.
Currently, the console costs £429, but the new price will bring it in line with Sony’s PlayStation 4 console, which has been outselling the Xbox One in major markets since they were both released in November.
Harvey Eagle, marketing director of Xbox in the UK talked about the upcoming price cut saying, “The reason we’re doing this is that we’re committed to giving gamers the best value that we can,” Adding, “We’re only a few months into a generation of consoles that are going to last for many many years to come,”
“And now just feels like the right time to make the adjustment on the price.”
Latest industry figures suggest that the PlayStation 4 has been outselling Microsoft’s Xbox One by 2 to 1, with an estimated 5.3 million of Sony’s consoles sold worldwide since its release in November.
Microsoft reiterated that although the Xbox One is lagging behind in sales that their next gen console has had a ‘record breaking’ launch with strong game sales.
The new bundle will include a copy of Titanfall, a widely anticipated first person shooter that Microsoft hopes can drive sales of the Xbox One. However, Titanfall is not officially released until March 14th, so early adopters of the cheaper priced console will not be able to play the game until the release date.
