Sony Playstation 3 PS3 Delayed

Playstation3
We reported back in November 2005 about the launch of the Playstation 3. This was the time that everyone was eagerly awaiting their Xbox 360’s which turned out to have quite a few faults on the early consoles.

It was speculated that the Playstation 3 was to be released around April 2006 time, but today it has been announced that the release date is now expected to be November 2006. Is this a ploy to catch the Christmas sales?

There has so far been no mention of cost, but this is a big set back to those people who have been waiting to get their hands on a brand new console without going to the Xbox camp. Sony have announced though a few more details of what we can expect to find on the new Playstation. The basic model will have a 60GB hard drive installed which will be able to act as a home media server, handling movies, photos and music. The online site for Playstation 3 users will incorporate a free gaming service with the ability to use voice chat and a download area.

It has though been confirmed that the Playstation 3 games will all be on Blu-Ray discs and the machine will be fully backwardly compatible with your PS2 and PS1 games. This is great news for fans who over the years have made a collection of games that they can still find a use for.

We are hoping to gain more information on the cost of the PS3 and the new games that will be available in the coming months.
