Fuji FinePix Z1
The Fuji FinePix Z1 is one of the cameras of 2005 that we have been waiting for here at Techlounge. The first thing we noticed was the dock, it spelt disaster, as you can’t just plug in your USB cable. Which to us here at Techlounge means lack of portability, since where ever you go you can always lay your hands on a USB lead but you’ll rarely find a cradle for your camera. So this means you need to carry around 2 or 3 memory cards, if you’re going on holiday.
On the upside we loved the 2.5″ colour screen on the back. Gone are the days where 1″ was the best, a 2.5″ screen is like a 42″ plasma in comparison. The design of this camera is beautiful and the craftsmanship is of the usual high quality.
5.1 mega pixels is fine for the amateur who is keen to keep his camera in his pocket all the time in case of that rare perfect picture, but we would like to see more 6’s and 7’s becoming a industry standard for the new slim lines.
The images that this little camera produces are astonishing, the high quality fifth generation processor combined with the 5.1 mega pixels really does compliment each other very well.
We know what your going to say “where’s the view finder?, that’s right there isn’t one. You use the screen like you normally would do with your old digital camera because it’s easier, so we guess that’s why they didn’t bother building one into the camera. So your next question is “what’s the battery life like? Well its not as good as your average digital camera as you have the larger screen which obviously uses extra battery power, so its lasts a slightly shorter time.
