iRiver H340
Finally a media player that after reviewing it we actually wanted to purchase, the iRiver H-340. There are two versions of this media player H-320 (20GB), and the H340 (40GB) which is the one we are reviewing.
The first thing that we noticed when we ripped open the box was the amazing carbon fibre effect on the casing which is covered in a layer of lacquer and just looks stunning. This media player does so much more than the standard run of the mill players. For example if you want to transfer your digital camera pictures to it, just plug your camera’s lead into the iRiver and there you go, click of the button and you will be transferring all of your pictures on to it. The same goes for your music library on your PC, just plug your iRiver into your PC and drag and drop your files onto it. There is no software to install on your PC as it is seen as a portable storage device. This is great as it can be annoying installing other software onto your PC.
The inch LCD 260,000 colour screen is amazing, it is so much better than the rival 40GB Photo that also has a inch LCD, but the iRiver is over 3x better. The only slight downfall that we have found is that when you listen to the music fairly loud, and if you are listening to hip hop and dance music, the little ear buds that are supplied with the iRiver just can’t hack the pace, so we opted to buy some big head phones. But we suppose that this might be a problem for us and know that any media player with the earbud style, would need upgrading. The SRS WOW really enhances the sound quality that is pumped out by the little iRiver. All in all we like the iRiver, it has so many more buttons and knobs than any other media player that is currently in the same market place.
