Motorola Pebl V6 - MotoPebl
It’s here and available, the Motorola PEBL. When this was first announced back in February there was much excitement over this new mobile phone from Motorola. It’s sleek, smooth design is very different from its brother phone the Motorola RAZR which we have seen as the V3i, the hot pink RAZR, and most recently the exclusive gold RAZR.
The PEBL is a clamshell mobile phone with a one touch open hinge, which is the coolest part of this phone. It has a very simple design and has been produced in a slightly rubberised material giving it extra durability. In terms of features Motorola would like you to believe that it has everything that you need such as a camera. But the camera is just a VGA and no where near the quality of the now standard mega pixel cameras that every mobile phone seems to have. It has MPEG4 video capture and playback but there just isn’t the quality of camera or screen to get the best out of the technology. The PEBL only has 5mb of inbuilt memory with no extra memory card slot.
The battery life is good though with 400 minute talk time or 250 hour standby time. It weighs just 110 grams and the dimensions are 87 x 49 x 20 mm. This is a great looking mobile but more of a girly accessory.

This is the first Motorola mobile that I have had. Never really went for the Razr type phones, tended to have stuck with the smart phones. Something about the Pebl appealed to me, but I find the keypad a bit hard to get used to. Love the flip feature though, it’s cool

I love this phone but why don’t Motorola get a decent camera into their phones. VGA camera’s …. like Techlounge says a 1.3 mega pixel camera is pretty much standard nowadays.

Is the flip hinge as cool as it looks?
January 6th, 2006 at 5:07 pm
isn’t it kinda chunky?
January 6th, 2006 at 5:08 pm
well it looks like a good piece of soap to me mate

It is chunky compared to the ultra slim VK2000 or the RAZR’s. I suppose it’s not meant to be slim more rounded

Tracey whats the battery life like on yours pebl ?
February 14th, 2006 at 11:04 am
Hi Sue,
The battery life on mine is pretty good. Talktime is meant to be about 6 hours and standby of 10 days or so. It all depends on what you are using it for and I never let mine go a few days without charging mine back to full. I wonder if this affects the battery life by doing this? Does anyone know?

Motorola will be bringing out new colours for the MotoPebl for the summer so you will be able to choose from orange, pink, blue and green.
These will help it to become a true girly accessory!

I got one of these in February…I wish I knew about this sooner. I would have loved the orange one.
The green one is a great colour as well

Hi love the look of this phone and find it easy to use however, it has an annoying habit of switching itself off! Some days it doesnt do it at all and others it will turn itself off 4/5 times - its really frustrating!!! Also it will tell me it has a low battery but if I turn it off and then on again the battery will return to 2 bars and it will stop bleeping. Although I like it, it has been a bit of a troublesome phone (and I have had it less than a month!!), which has put me of motorolas.

I have the same problem with mine, it turns itself off, doesn’t always charge and keeps saying incorrect battery!?
September 20th, 2006 at 1:13 pm
I also have the same problem as Tanya. Anyone got any ideas

Mine switched itself off occastionally too.
Then it got worse - it would be fine with clam open, but would switch off within seconds of the clam closing.
Now it won’t turn on at all - only a few months old so returned for warranty repair.
This fault seems far too common!
